Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Director of the Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, awarded Davit Akhobadze- Head of the Vani District Inspectors Division, on behalf of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Akhobadze was awarded with a “Glock” pistol for outstanding courage demonstrated during performing his official duties.
Police Senior Lieutenant Akhobadze was wounded on March 5 of the current year while being on duty. Upon receiving a report on a suicide attempt, police officers were shot by an unsober citizen armed with a shotgun, resulting in multiple injuries of the Chief of Vani District Inspectors Police Division. Police detained the offender at the crime scene. The wounded Davit Akhobadze was transferred to the hospital by the ambulance crew, where he underwent urgent surgery.
Currently, Senior Lieutenant of the Police, Davit Akhobadze continues his treatment at home. His health is not in danger.
