Within the last two weeks, huge efforts have been made by the law enforcers in the direction of the border control- stated Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri during the live broadcast from Imedi TV and expressed his gratitude towards policemen.
“I would like to express my gratitude towards our colleagues, police officers, want to thank them all. They have done a tremendous job in the last two weeks. You may know what problems they encountered, they had to receive too many flights. The first few days were most difficult for us, however, he handled the obstacles successfully. Today the state border is closed entirely. We are only accepting our citizens through the land border and others in case of several exceptions such as foreign citizens with diplomatic missions. Exceptions will be made if a person is a family member of the Georgian citizen – spouse, child, mother and etc. We will discuss the issue whether to let them enter the state border or not after the examination”- stated Minister Gomelauri.
During the same broadcast Minister also tackled the issue of transporting goods.
“You may know that we have not blocked the cargo transporting across the country which is very important for us and our neighbor countries. All drivers undergo examination; truck convoys are assembled which are being escorted by patrol police from Larsi to the Red Bridge to make sure that no contacts are made with locals”-stated Minister Gomelauri.
