Within the frames of the working visit to Stockholm Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia met Urban Ahlin, the Chairman of the Swedish Parliament.
At the meeting the parties discussed the progress of Georgia in the process of European integration and Visa Liberalization.
Also, Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili and Urban Ahlin discussed the multilateral relations between Georgia and Sweden, including cooperation with the law enforcement structures.
The Minister of Internal Affairs focused on the importance of deepening the international police cooperation for fight against illegal migration and organized crime. "The Ministry of Internal Affairs has made significant step forward in the field of international police cooperation, both on legislative and institutional levels. We want to even more deepen and strengthen the relations at all levels between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Sweden Interior Ministry through regular exchange of information, police attaches, Europol and Interpol"- said Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
In the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia also met Beatrice Ask, the Head of the Committee of Justice.
At the meeting Beatrice Ask underlined that Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili is the first Minister of Internal Affairs paying a working visit to Sweden. "We are very happy to host you here. We are aware of the successful reforms carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. We can observe and appreciate the constructive steps aimed at deepening the cooperation between our states, "- said the Head of the Committee of Justice of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden.
At the meeting with Beatrice Ask Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili talked about the cooperation between the law enforcement structures of both countries and the importance of its deepening. The Minister mentioned that the issue of designating the police attach of Georgia to Sweden is under the review. "I had a very productive meeting with my colleague Anders Ygeman, where we talked about future plans. I think that sending of a police attach will contribute to the further strengthening of relations between our Ministries. We have to keep positive dynamics of cooperation, constantly exchange information and jointly confront the challenges and first of all, ensure crime prevention. In this regard, police cooperation does not have an alternative"- said Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
