Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia met his Hungarian colleague Mr. Sandor Pinter during his official visits to Budapest.
The Ministers of IA reviewed the issues related to the deepening of cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies and the development of the relationship in different directions.
Mr. Sandor Pinter provided Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili with detailed information about the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Hungary, its functions and duties, strategies and objectives.
As the Minister of Internal Affairs of Hungary stated, in the last period police cooperation between Georgia and Hungary is based on solid stands. "What we have achieved as a result of this cooperation is very important. However, we wish to further deepen these relations. We are ready to provide any kind of support in any direction. We will share our experience and receive a variety of information and experiences from you with pleasure” - said Mr. Sandor Pinter.
At the meeting the Hungarian Minister underlined the success achieved in operation of the Emergency Management Center - "112 and said that in creation of the similar center Hungary guided by that example. For his part, Mr. Sandor Pinter offered Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili to share the Hungarian experience in the field of the emergency situations management.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia introduced the successful reforms implemented within the scopes of Visa Liberalization Action Plan to his Hungarian counterpart and focused on the outcomes achieved respecting strengthening the cooperation with the European Police (EUROPOL).
"We continue to implement reforms in order to come closer to European standards" - noted Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, - "We are ready to put our relations with Hungary forward to a new level. In many cases a crime goes beyond the limits of one country. Therefore, the international police cooperation has a special significance. The main thing is not only prevention of a crime but its suppression. To this end, exchange of information and experience is often decisive. "
At the meeting the parties focused on the significance of the Agreement on “Cooperation between the Government of Georgia and the Government of Hungary for Combat and Prevention Crime” signed in 2012; this Agreement covers all aspects of cooperation in the law enforcement field and lays a solid foundation for further deepening of the relations.
The Ministers of Internal Affairs of Georgian and Hungary also discussed the issues of future cooperation between the Police Academies of two countries in the direction of education.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili expressed his gratitude to Mr. Sandor Pinter and the Government of Hungary for their support to Georgia’s European aspirations and invited his Hungarian colleague to pay an official visit to Georgia.
