Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia arrived in Adjara region under the instruction of the Prime Minister Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili and met the disaster-affected population in Shuakhevi municipality. The Minister of Internal Affairs got familiarized with the disaster liquidation works and the activities carried out by the rescuers of the MIA on the ground.
"Since yesterday 450 reports are received; up to 500 rescuers are working 24 hours a day. 100 pieces of equipment have been mobilized nationwide. Most importantly, we have no human casualties. We will stand together and overcome all problems, "- said Mr. Mghebrishvili during his visit to the disaster region.
On July 8, immediately upon a heavy rainfall, 200 rescuers and 20 units of firefighting-rescue techniques of the Emergency Situations Management Agency of the MIA were involved in emergency operations. The MIA rescuers brought out from the houses damaged by a landslide two families in Kobuleti Municipality and 5 families in Shuakhevi. The rescuers arrived to the villages isolated from the outside world as a result of the disaster by the roundabout ways; they are patrolling in the place in order to assist the population in case of necessity.
