Minister of Internal Affairs met with Nikoloz Tvildiani and Sandro Stazhadze who were chosen to be sent to study at United States Coast Guard Academy – USCGA.
Giorgi Mgebrishvili congratulated students on enrollment in United States Coast Guard Academy and wished them success.
"We are doing everything to establish Western standards in the MIA, for which highly qualified staff is crucial. I am proud that our agency has been able to send two Georgian talented youngsters in the US Coast Guard Academy, one of the most prestigious universities in the world with the support of the US Government, provided that they will return to their country after their studies and serve their homeland, in particular, they will work in the Coastal Guard Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. I am very confident about you and I am confident that you will contribute to strengthening Georgia's coast protection, "said Giorgi Mgebrishvili at the meeting.
This year, Ministry of Internal Affairs sent its selected candidates in the US Coast Guard Academy for the first time. According to the agreement, after the completion of the academy, they will serve at least five years in the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of Georgia.
The Ministry has selected Sandro Stozadze, a graduate of G. Zaldastanishvili American Academy of Sciences and Nikoloz Tvildiani and "Future School" graduate to send for studies at the US Coast Guard Academy.
Selection of nominees was based on their academic performance and interviews, taking into account their future professions. Under the coordination of the Academy of MIA the examination of the selected candidates in physical capacities were also conducted which was attended by representatives of the US Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC).
