Within the frames of working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia continues meetings with the Interior Ministers of the Federal Lands.
In the city of Mainz Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili had a meeting with Mr. Roger Lewentz, the Minister of Interior, Sport and Infrastructure of the Rheinland-Pfalz Federal Land.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili and Mr. Roger Lewentz signed the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Interior, Sport and Infrastructure of the Rheinland-Pfalz Federal Land” which identifies the main fields of cooperation and envisages capacity building of police officers.
At the press conference held upon memorandum signing ceremony Mr. Roger Lewentz thanked Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia for the visit and said: “"This visit reaffirms the readiness of the Georgian side to strengthen and deepen the cooperation with Germany. The information provided by you regarding the fight against criminality and organized crime is extremely important for us. Organized crime has no boundaries nor nationality. This was clearly shown by a recent tragedy in Brussels and earlier tragedy in Paris. In order to overcome this problem deepening of international partnership and police cooperation is necessary. The memorandum signed today with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is the best foundation for the development of fruitful relations existing between us”.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia said "In terms of fight against crime it is very important to have close cooperation with Germany not only at Federal, but also at the Federal Lands level. It is time to move to a new and more effective level of relations. It is necessary to continue and deepen the existing positive relationship, exchange information, share experience and develop joint strategy for fight against crime."
Mr. Gnter Kern, the Deputy Minister of Interior of Rheinland-Pfalz Federal Land made a presentation for the members of Georgian delegation on Police System of the Federal Land and Criminal Service. With the aim of strengthening the cooperation the parties agreed on working meeting of investigative and operative groups.
Within the frames of a working visit to Rheinland-Pfalz Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili visited the Police High School in Hahn. The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia was hosted by Mr. Friedel Durben, the Director of the Police High School, who introduced to the Minister the training system and methods.
At the meeting the issues of future cooperation between the Police High School and the Academy of MIA were discussed. “Challenges faced by Police should be confronted by knowledge and constant development” said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili discussed with Mr. Friedel Durben the issues of transformation of the Aca demy of MIA into the Regional Center of Education and planned reforms. With the purpose of experience sharing the parties agreed on implementation of exchange programs for teachers and students.
