Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs held a meeting with Mr. Holger Muench, the President of the German Federal Criminal Service paying an official visit to Georgia.
At the meeting the sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation and stressed the importance of joint efforts in fight against trans-border organized crime.
The Minister said that in recent years the cooperation between Georgian and German law enforcement agencies has deepened both on operative and non-operative levels. Since 2015 the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has assigned its police liaison officer to Berlin, who successfully cooperates with the German Federal Criminal Service and Criminal Police of certain federal lands. The cooperation is also close between German Federal law enforcement agencies and the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili said that in some cases the crime goes beyond the bounds of one country. Thus, development of the international police cooperation is of great importance.
At the meeting the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the President of the German Federal Criminal Service reviewed future cooperation plans between the law enforcement structures of the both countries.
