On the occasion of the "112" Day Mr. Giorgi Gakharia, the Minister of Internal Affairs along with his deputies visited Rustavi Call Center of the Emergency Assistance Operative Management Center.
At the event the "112" Department has presented a project "112" mobile application based on innovative and modern technologies. Any person in the territory of Georgia will have the opportunity to download and use mobile application "112".
The main advantage of the application is the immediate identification of the location of a citizen and this will significantly reduce the time necessary for the emergency services to arrive on the scene. The application has important features such as sending a silent alarm to "112" (SOS) and communication with the operator ("Chat"). The mentioned functions might be used in cases where there is no possibility to speak or call.
The application is free, is supported by IOS and Android platforms and is available in Georgian, English and Russian languages. It should be noted that only 13 countries of the world have introduced a mobile application for connection with the emergency assistance center.
Within the scope of the event, the Minister of Internal Affairs has awarded the employees of the "112" with the certificates of gratitude for excellent performing of duties and certificates of appreciation for contribution to the effective work of the “112”.
The invited guests had a tour around the “112” Center of Rustavi, got acquainted with the specifics of work of the operators and received information about the future plans of the Department.
On February 11 Georgia, as well as more than 80 countries around the world, including EU member states, celebrates the “112” Day and its goal is to increase awareness of 112 among the population. Annually, on this day, the "112" of Georgia conducts various types of information campaigns.
