Operative Response Centre “112” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been operational already for two years. The same service is available in European countries from 1991. In 2009, according to the decision of European Council it was decided to mark the day of “112” on February 11th. Day of Operative Response Centre “112” was also celebrated in Georgia. The event was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze and congratulated the head of 112 and staff with the professional day.
Minister of Internal Affairs awarded five employees of the center with certificates for devoted and effective service. Director of 112 Giorgi Bitchashvili familiarized Minister with already implemented changes in the Center and scheduled novelties.
Event was also attended by customers of 112 of various ages. Citizens who participated and won in the photo and other contests were also awarded with gifts. Within the frames of the contest the best photos will be exhibited in the Center.
During the event 112 customers were familiarized with work specifics of the Center. It is also notable for citizens to know what obstacles may face 112 workers and how stressful it is to work at the center. Operative Response Centre “112” works in round-the-clock regime and seven days a week. Citizens can call on the emergency number- 112 without any fees from all mobile operators even in case if there is no balance on the phone or in absence of SIM card. Workers of Operative Response Centre “112” responded to 8 401 512 emergency calls this year.
