A working meeting was held for the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the development of an internal mechanism for the prevention and response to sexual harassment. The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and the Representative of the UN Women in Georgia - Kaori Ishikawa.
Aleksandre Darakhvelidze emphasized the importance of strengthening gender mainstreaming and integration of a gender perspective in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Deputy Minister spoke about the steps taken by the Ministry in recent years to achieve gender equality, following to which, in response to the challenges of achieving gender equality in the workplace and implementation of effective gender policies within the system, the decision on introduction of internal mechanism for the prevention and response to sexual harassment was made.
The workshop was held within the framework of the UN Women project “Accelerating Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Georgia”, generously funded by the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund of the British Government.
