Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, opened a new fire-fighting rescue building of European standards in Sighnaghi.
The Head of Emergency Management Service, Temur Mghebrishvili, the Heads of Firefighting-Rescue Department and representatives of the local government attended the event.
The new firefighting-rescue building of European standards will serve the Sighnaghi Municipality. Architecture of the three-storey building complies with the appearance of the city and fully meets the needs of the region. 20 firefighter-rescuers will work at the unit and they will be supplied with all the essentials to perform professional duties. The new building is equipped with bedrooms, working and studying rooms, as well as with gym and kitchen. The building has a special parking space for two firefighter and one rescue vehicle.
It is worth to mention, that Sighnagi had not had firefighitng rescue building since 1998. The local unit of the EMS had been using various buildings.
At the opening ceremony of the new building, the Emergency Management Service handed over the Mitsubishi brand rescue vehicle to the Sighnaghi division. Additionally, it is envisaged to grant Magirus brand european standard rescue vehicle to the Sighnaghi division in the beginning of 2020.
