The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a presentation of a board game “MIA Archive - Chronicle” at Gori State Teaching University. The new project was presented by Mr. Givi Mikanadze, Rector of the Academy.
The event was attended by Mr. Omar Tushurashvili, Director of the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rector of Gori State Teaching University, as well as both the rectors and the students of the Faculty of History of the University. More

The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the MIA Archive, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, held a presentation of the second stage of the project entitled “Explore History – Become Researcher”. The event was attended by Mr. Givi Mikanadze, Rector of the MIA Academy, Mr. Omar Tushurashvili, Director of the MIA Archive, Ms. Lia Gigauri, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, rectors of the universities in Telavi, Gori, Zugdidi and Kutaisi, students studying at faculty of history, public school history teachers and pupils. Presentation of the 2018 calendar

Presentation of the 2018 calendar published by the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was held at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The calendar is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the independence of Georgia. The documents, which are presented in the edition reflects the period of Georgia’s independence. Although the Democratic Republic of Georgia existed only for three years, number ofimportant measures were taken in this short period.

On December 26 the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Archive Administration under the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara held a presentation of a joint edition entitled “In the wake of the archives – Batumi”. This edition was produced within the framework of the MIA Archive’s project “Restore history together with archives”.

PRESENTATION OF THE JOINT PUBLICATION PRODUCED BY GEORGIAN AND ABKHAZ SCHOLARS WAS HELD IN TBILISI

Within the framework of the MIA Archive project “Restore history together with archives”, the presentation of the Georgian-Abkhaz joint publication “The Great Terror in Abkhazia (Abkhaz ASSR, 1937 - 1938)” produced with the support of the Council of Europe was held in Tbilisi.
The event was opened by Mr. Shalva Khutsishvili, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
This is a joint work of Georgian and Abkhaz scholars, a joint project, which reflects our common history. This is the result of joint work, which has been implemented with the support of the Council of Europe. We hope that such projects will enable Georgian scholars, Abkhaz scholars and our specialists to create joint products in different fields. Such projects are very important and we always stand for this kind of dialogue and this kind of joint work”, - said Mr. Shalva Khutsishvili in his opening speech. More

MEMORANDUM WAS DRAWN UP BETWEEN THE MIA ACADEMY AND THE ARCHIVE ADMINISTRATION OF ADJARA

The rector of the MIA Academy, Mr. Givi Mikanadze and the head of the Archive Administration under the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Ms. Maia Ivanishvili signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The aim of the Memorandum is to research materials that are preserved in the MIA Archive and the Archive Administration of Adjara and to disclose results of the research. More

DIRECTOR OF THE POLISH ARMY MUSEUM PAID A WORKING VISIT TO THE MIA ACADEMY

The rector of the MIA Academy, Mr. Givi Mikanadze and the director of the MIA Archive, Mr. Omar Tushurashvili hosted Mr. Adam Buława, director of the Polish Army Museum and his accompanying delegation. The visit, within the framework of extensive historical studies ordered by the State Museum of Poland, aimed at finding the information regarding descendants of those Junkers who were unwillingly emigrated from Georgia to Poland and participated in the fights on February 25, 1921. The process includes finding and analyzing the information that is preserved in the MIA Archive. More

Presentation of a new edition of The Archive Bulletin was held in Georgian State Museum of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography. The journal is produced by the Archive of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The presentation was attended by the rector of the MIA Academy, Mr. Givi Mikanadze, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection, delegation of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland and other invited guests. THE EMPLOYEES OF THE MIA ARCHIVE PAID A STUDY VISIT TO POLAND

Within the framework of the cooperation between the MIA Academy and the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland, the employees of the MIA Archive paid a study visit to the Republic of Poland. Within the framework of the visit, workshops with experts in the relevant field were held. The employees of the MIA Archive have undergone retraining courses in conservation-restoration and digitalization of archival recordings in the structural subdivision of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland. Rector of the MIA Academy, Givi Mikanadze, with the representatives of the MIA Archive paid a working visit to the Republic of Poland. Within the framework of the visit, the delegation met Dr. Jarosław Szarek - President of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland. At the meeting, Omar Tushurashvili - Director of the MIA Archive spoke about implemented and current projects of the Archive. The parties agreed on exact terms of future archival and historical researches, and determined concrete plans of future cooperation. More

The MIA Archive held the presentation of a monography “Farewell brothers! We are being shot tonight!” related to the sovietization of Georgia at the Museum of Soviet Occupation. The presentation was financed by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The visit of the Armenian delegation to the MIA Archive

The Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia hosted students and collaborators of the Police Educational Complex of the Republic of Armenia. The delegation arrived in Georgia to undergo a short course in criminal law in the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. On June 13-14, 2016 the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland organized an international scientific conference “Rebel Cities throughout the Soviet Empire” in Radom, Poland. The students of Ilia State University, department of history paid and introductory visit to the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The students learnt the history of the Archive and got information about the archival fonds and materials. Within the framework of the visit, the

Within the framework of a week celebrations dedicated to Independence Day, the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in association with Samegrelo -Zemo Svaneti province, held special event “Restore history together with archives!” in the governor’s administration building of Zugdidi. The event included presentation of the book “In the wake of the archives - Zugdidi” composed by the MIA Archive. The book provides a small portion of archival materials concerning Zugdidi region. On 6 May, 2016 the event organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia was held in the Museum of the Soviet Occupation. The event included the presentation of the journal The Archival Bulletin, Fall Edition №16 and the edition - Be arrested! Be beaten! Be executed! Besides, the event included showing fiction-documentary films made by the MIA Archive Saria Lakoba and Cheka against religious holidays - Easter, and an exhibition of the illustrations depicting the Great Purge of 1937-1938. Within the framework of cooperation between Archive of Ministry of Internal Affairs, Chokhatauri Municipality and media house “Guria News”, special event “Restore history together with Archives” was held at movie theatre “Guria” located in Chokhatauri. The event was attended by Rector of MIA Academy Nukri Gelashvili, Director of MIA Archive Omar Tushurashvili, Head of Main Division of Guria Region Giorgi Mdinaradze, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Teona Akubardia, heads of Lanchkhuti, Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri municipalities, representatives of the non-governmental sector, local school teachers, pupils and journalists. Noteworthy is that the representatives of MIA Archive presented fiction-documentary film “Who Killed Ilia” produced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the guests. The film has permanently been presented in various regions of Georgia. More

The fiction-documentary film Who Killed Ilia which is about the assassination of Ilia Chavchavadze and his final path to Saguramo was shown in Telavi at IakobGogebashvili Telavi State University.
The event was attended by the MIA Archive Director Omar Tushurashvili, other representatives of the archive, Vice Rector of the MIA Academy PridonDiasamidze, Rector of Telavi State University AvtandilGheleghutashvili, Deputy Governor of Kakheti ZurabArsenishvili, representatives of Tbilisi city hall, historians, academic personnel and students. After the presentation held in Tbilisi, the film has been introduced in the regions of Georgia. More

Exhibition 1989 organized by MIA Archive and embassies of Czech Republic and Slovakia was held at national library of the Parliament of Georgia. The event was attended by the Rector of MIA Academy Nukri Gelashvili, Ambassador of Slovakia to Georgia Rudolph Mikhalka, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic Petr Drulak, Ambassador of Czech Republic to Georgia Tomash Pernitski, representatives of Georgian Parliament and Diplomatic Corps. The event was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of events that earned the name of Velvet Revolution. Rector of MIA Academy Nukri Gelashvili attended the opening ceremony of exhibition and delivered speech. He reviewed important and crucial events in histories of Georgia, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
