Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Shalva Khutsishvili and attended the concluding meeting of the project “Explore History and Become Researcher” which is the joint project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Education and Science.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science- Lia Gigauri, Rector of MIA Academy- Givi Mikanadze and director of MIA Archive- Omar Tushurashvili, teachers from Tbilisi public schools and pupils.
At the meeting, participant groups presented their works and a special commission revealed the best one. The winner of the contest became the group of Tbilisi N126 Public School. All participants received symbolic gifts. Regarding the best work, it will be published in the bilingual journal The Archival Bulletin issued by the MIA Archive.

In the mentioned project 5 teams were involved. Public school teachers and pupils selected topics from a thematic rubric “Modern History”. Each group worked on the selected topic independently, with the assistance of the MIA Archive employees.
The project aimed at making historical records concerning modern history of Georgia, which are preserved in the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and are accessible to public, interesting not only to the professional researchers, but also to the young people. Another goal of this project was to help both pupils and students to develop specific research skills, as well as creative thinking and necessary skills for working on the source.
