MIA representatives held meeting with students of Caucasus International University within the frames of anti-drug campaign. The students were familiarized with the goal and significance of the social campaign launched against synthetic drugs. Mrs. Sophio Kiladze, Head of International Legal Cooperation Division of the International Relations Department of the MIA explained to the students that the law on “New Psychoactive Substances” drafted by the initiative of the Ministry will be effective on May 1. According to the mentioned law manufacture, produce, purchases, keeping, transportation, transfer or distribution, also illegal taking into or out of the territory of Georgia of a new psychoactive substances will be prohibited and relevantly such actions will be the subject of criminal responsibility. The meeting was held in the questions and answers format. The issues of the hazardous impact of so called “Bio Drugs” were also explained by Mr. Zurab Sikharulidze the narcologist.
During the meeting MIA representatives presented video to the students, made for the anti-drug campaign. Doctors who participated in social videos inform public on threats and dangers of the so called bio drugs. Policemen also presented informative video prepared by Emergency Response Center 112 by means of which society will receive information on first symptoms typical after using “bio” narcotics; they also received information on inevitability to call ambulance after detecting first signs of synthetic drugs addiction. Slogan of the campaign is “Changing Attitude Together”. Aim of the campaign is the prevention of the use of synthetic narcotics and providing public with information on the mentioned subject.
