25 employees of Shida Kartli Main Division of the Patrol Police Department and Gori District Division’s district inspectors of Shida Kartli Police Department attended two-day training on the “Legal Mechanisms against Domestic Violence”. The training was held in Gori Office of the Center for Civic Engagement within the scopes of the EU-funded project - "MIA’s Support in Fight against Domestic Violence”. The training was led by Mr. Nodar Saakashvili, the head of the faculty of patrol police of the MIA Academy, Mr. Gia Gogiberidze, the professor of the TSU and Mrs. Nato Shavlakadze, the head of the "Anti-Violence National Network".
The training aimed at raising the level of knowledge, skills and capacity building of the law enforcers in terms of combating domestic violence.
Raising the qualification and awareness of the issues related to a domestic violence and the legal mechanisms applied against it will help the law enforcers to increase their professionalism and therefore, effective response to domestic violence, which is a prerequisite for reducing and preventing similar incidents.
The major goal of the project "MIA’s Support in Fight against Domestic Violence” is promoting the prevention of domestic violence, elimination of domestic violence and its consequences through raising public and law enforcers’ awareness of the country’s applicable legal mechanisms.
