General-Major Zurab Gamezardashvili, the Head of the MIA Border Police of Georgia and Professor Parmen Khvedelidze, Rector of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University signed the cooperation memorandum. The memorandum envisages free certification training courses for the personnel of Coast Guard Department according their specialties. The memorandum will cover theoretical classes and practice exercises. The given memorandum will provide assistance in the training/retraining and qualification of the GCG personnel.

Batumi Navigation Teaching University is equipped with a wide-range of special simulators and educational PC-based technologies. The university provides vocational programs for Deck Seamen’s, Engine room seafarers, Electricians, Cooks, ship`s electrical engineers and International transport transferors.
