Information Center of Information-Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has conducted research on imported and re-exported transport means. In the process of research dynamics with particular transport characteristics, tendencies of renewing the fleet, distribution of motor vehicles by regions legal entities and individuals according to their sex.
According to the research, car fleet in Georgian increases each year. In 2016 the index of growth reached 8%, while in comparison to 2014 the amount of the car fleet in Georgia increased by 16,8%.
The 81,6% of the car fleet in Georgia is comprised of off-road vehicles.
Most part of the fleet is older than 10 years, however the number of 4-6 year old vehicles is rising.
Majority of the vehicles is a sedan type, although in 2016 the demand on “hatchback” type vehicles has risen.
The share of the vehicles on each of the vehicles varies from 3 to 4 reliant on regions.
In 2016 the amount of the imported vehicles has increased by 4,7%. 18% of the imported vehicles have diesel engines, 0,8% operate on gas, while the import of the hybrid cars has increased four times. In 2016 34 electro mobiles were imported in Georgia.
Import of the right-wheel vehicles has reached 38,9%.
