The head of Emergency Situations Management Agency Zviad Katsashvili made a statement on June 13th disaster and instant response of the rescuers. “In connection with the disaster, which took place on June 13th, first call in 112 was placed at 22:11. In three minutes time all employees of Tbilisi Main Division were deployed to the disaster affected site. It should be noted, that calls were placed in the scope of Tbilisi, where flood began. The disaster started from Chughureti district that was followed by flood in Vere river valley. The territory was flooded very quickly, in 3-4 minutes. For that time fire-brigades and rescue teams were already allocated at the disaster site. We have a time-study that depicts the process of deploying, all the units were at the disaster site in three minutes throughout Tbilisi. This is also proved by the fact the our rescuer who was lately found dead in Vere valley had been at the site and he was one of the rescuers working at the site and could possibly had rescued 6-7 people from the disaster zone. He and his peer were working at the moment and were trying to withdraw four more people when water reached excessive level. Reportedly a log bumped into the rescuer, as a result he fell and we lost our employee. The head of Emergency Situations Management Agency also spoke on the liquidation, clean-up and searching works after the disaster. According to Zviad Katsashvili: “Searching and clean-up activities are under way. Numbers of units under MIA are deployed to the site, namely to Mziuri park area, where the victims of the disaster had been found. We particularly focus on that area, because we assume that more missing people can be found there.
