Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working in the emergency mode due to the heavy snowfall. From December 31 till now operative response center has received up to 700 calls which was responded immediately.
Rescuers extracted mini buses and other transport means from the debris of snow due to the inappropriate tires for a snowy weather.
On Tskhunkuri pass children were also stuck in the vehicles which stood still due to the heavy snowing. They were transported to the safe area by the rescuers. In Tsageri rescuers extracted vehicles with special technic stuck in the avalanche. In Lanchkhuti rescuers provided St. Mary monastery with food and water.
The agency was assisted by ambulance crews which transported sick people from villages to the treatement facilities.
In Lagodekhi search and rescue activities are held in order to find three missing persons who got lost three days ago. In the rescue works Border Police helicopter is also involved.
