On September 20 Emergency Response center “112” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was informed that intensive showers in Batumi flooded first floors of buildings located in Tchaobi and Boni settlements as well as Maiakovski, Lermontov, 26 MAY Streets.
As soon as the report was received, employees of Batumi Unit of Rescue Training and Response Division of MIA Emergency Situations Management Department departed to the place of the incident with all necessary technic and equipment.
In the emergency activities employees of municipal emergency service and other relevant agencies got involved. Owning to the situation, four additional rescue units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were mobilized as well as fire and rescue units of Khulo, Shuakhevi and Keda settlements. Crises management staff has been established in Batumi. As a result of coordinated activities rescuers have pumped out water from the flooded buildings. Rescue teams managed to evacuate people from flooded buildings on time. They also evacuated citizens, including children from flooded vehicles and took them to the safe place.
