On August 20, Emergency Situations Management Agency received notification from 112 Emergency Response Center that fire broke out in vicinities the Lisi Lake, Tbilisi. Fire was caught by the grass and green plants. As soon as the report was received teams of fire-rescuers operatively arrived at the scene. Up to 25 fire-fighters of Emergency Situations Management Agency managed to liquidate fire in the shortest period of time which was spread on 1000 square meters land area. No one was harmed as a result of fire.
Fire broke out in Surami as well, where grass and bushes were caught by fire on 3000 square meter territory. Employees of the Emergency Situations Management Agency were able to liquidate fire on time.
Fire also broke out in the forest located in vicinities of Chorjo village, Ambrolauri municipality. As a result, grass, bushes and tree seedlings were burnt. Fire extinguishing activities were carried out by two teams of firemen-rescuers, who managed to extinguish fire in the shortest period of time despite the difficult relief.
Near to the forest, fire broke out in Kvabiskhevi village, Borjomi municipality on 1ha of the land area. As a result of the operative response of the fire-rescuers the fire did not spread in the forest area. At this moment the fire is liquidated.
Up to 100 firefighters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs still remain in vicinities of Daba village, Borjomi municipality to localize fire on the slope of the mountain.
The areal of fire has exceeded 5 ha. Due to the difficult relief firefighting technic in not able to reach fire sources. Helicopter of the border police also got involved in the fire extinguishing activities. Owning to heavy smoke and wind, helicopter of the border police was forced to stop operation under the recommendations of the specialists. Border police helicopter is able to conduct flights during the night time period. However, according to the international standards the operation of the helicopter and fire-fighters is not recommended during the night time period. As soon as the relevant recommendation is received from the specialists, the MIA Border Police helicopter will be instantly involved in the fire-extinguishing activities. At the same time, up to 100 firefighters of the Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will continue activities for the fire localization throughout the night.
