With the frames of the official visit British Human Rights Expert James Murdoch visited Temporary Detention Centers located in Gori, Shida Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions, which were renovated in 2012 in accordance with European standards within the frames of the reform.
British Human Rights Expert James Murdoch also met with MIA Academy representatives during which, sides discussed issues connected human rights protection topic that should be included in the study program aimed for the law enforcers. Representatives of MIA Academy familiarized Human Rights Expert with Masters’ program, which includes human rights protection subject. Sides also discussed prospects for holding trainings for the personnel of Temporary Detention Cells. Expert got interested in methods which includes elaboration of new study material in compatibility with real life situations. By the end of the meeting Human Rights Expert viewed MIA Academy infrastructure.
After getting familiarized with existing environment in the centers British expert will elaborate recommendations and draft standard operative procedures jointly with MIA representatives. MIA Academy will implement new trainings on capacity building for the employees of Human Rights Protection and Monitoring Main Division on the basis of the SOP’s.
