On December 18-20 Judo Sport Club of MIA took the firsts place in the team contest at the tournament which was held in Netherlands.
Sportsmen of the club successfully participated in all contests and took the first place in the team contest finally. This is their first appearance in the European arena. With this winning Georgian Judo sportsmen will move to Golden League of European Championship and next year, Georgian sportsmen will participate in continent's strongest team championship to try their abilities. Judo Club members will return to Georgia at 23:00 today.
The mentioned winning in Netherlands is the second success for the team. Georgian sportsmen took the fourth place in group contest at the popular tournament which was held in Japan. Before the tournament in Netherlands sportsmen were met by the Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze. Sportsmen joined social campaign against domestic violence and dedicated their winning to the campaign aimed to fight the domestic violence.
Under the initiative of the Minister of Internal Affairs and with the support of Security Police, “Judo Sport Club” of the Ministry was founded in May 2014. Most members of the club are also enlisted in Georgia national Team of Judo and are owners of various prizes and international tournament winners.
