Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Levan Izoria and US Embassy's Acting Deputy Chief of Mission James Hine handed certificates to students of Criminal Investigation Course. The solemn ceremony was attended by the Rector of MIA Academy Nukri Gelashvili, head of U.S. Embassy’s Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), Advisor in Police matters Michael Willson and other officials.
Six-week training course was held for investigators and prosecutors from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Corrections for the first time. The course is aimed at training instructors according to the basic, standard program on criminal investigation, adapted to the Georgian legislation and reality.The classes were taught by experienced American law enforcement professionals.
The program is comprised of 240-hour course covering investigation and methodology subjects, criminology, interrogation technics, investigation methods and teaching methodology based on best practice of the international standards.
After the completion of the course Georgian instructors will be able to hold the same courses for other investigators. The mentioned six-week course was initiated and organized by the U.S. Embassy’s Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL).
