Representatives of Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Central Criminal Police Department and International Relations Department visited EUROPOL headquarters in Hague, within the frames of EU-funded project- “Eastern Partner Countries Police Cooperation”
MIA delegation got acquainted with EUROPOL structure, responsibilities of the various departments and contemporary approaches to the fight against trans-border and organized crime.
At the meeting sides discussed the exchange of information between EUROPOL member states and partners as well as the information processing procedures and analytical methods.
Within the frames of the visit MIA delegation also met with representatives of Eurojust- the European Union’s judicial cooperation unit. Sides discussed human rights issues in the process of the exchange of information, mechanisms for legal regulations for ensuring privacy. European colleagues shared their experience to Georgian delegation on the issue of personal data protection and procession in the field of police cooperation.
Representatives of EUROPOL once again outlined the implemented and ongoing reforms held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs as well as progress achieved in strengthening cooperation with EUROPOL.
In the nearest future the agreement on operative and strategic partnership will be signed as a result of which Georgia will become EUROPOL partner and thus Georgia will have its own representative in EUROPOL.
Within the frames of the visit in Hague MIA delegation also held meeting with royal police representatives of Netherlands. At the meeting sides discussed prospects for developing fiture cooperation.
