The officers of Vake-Saburtalo Unit of Tbilisi Division of the LEPL – Security Police Department of the MIA prevented on the spot the aggravated robbery of the “Bank of Georgia”. An armed individual broke into the express branch of the “Bank of Georgia” located in Nutsubidze Street, Tbilisi, and attempted to rob it; the mentioned express branch is protected by a panic button of the Security Police Department of the MIA.
Upon receiving an alarm signal the operational response group went to the scene. The law enforcers detained at the crime scene Irakli K. (DoB: 1973) and seized the firearm and a handbag with stolen money as material evidences.
The abovementioned fact for further response is forwarded to the officers of the Criminal and Patrol Police Departments. The investigation is in progress on the fact of robbery (Article 179 of the Criminal Code of Georgia). The case is investigated by the Patrol Police Department.
