The Museum of the Soviet Occupation hosted the presentation of the new issue of the journal “Archival Bulletin” published by the Archive of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as, the presentation of the art work prepared on basis of archival documents – “Arrest! Beat! Shoot!” and presentation of art and documentary films.
The presentation was attended by Mr. Shalva Khutsishvili, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, the heads of various departments of the MIA and the State agencies, the representatives of the diplomatic corps and other invited guests.
The 16th issue of the journal "Archival Bulletin" reflects the peculiarities of the state repressive machinery that in the Soviet reality were revealed in the period of the so-called "Great Terror"; the period when the death of innocent people, exile to remote camps, distrust and fear were the integral parts of the daily routine.
The work – “Arrest! Beat! Shoot!” – reflects the epoch of Stalin and Lavrenti Beria, namely, the life of the employees of the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs (NKVD), their ruthless actions, the facts of falsification of criminal cases, scenes of inhumane treatment, torture and the stories of harassment. The book is designed with unique thematic illustrations.
