Officers of Anti-corruption Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs exposed employees of Ajara regional office of National Food Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture: Giorgi Kakabadze and Lia Kikava as well as head of Batumi field laboratory of the same Ministry Tamaar Tchkuaselil extorted cash as bribe from citizens, being in criminal alliance with head of “Furgatori” LTD Irakli Zakaraidze.
Citizens who brought hay for expertise at Ajara regional office of National Food Agency were forced to pay 325 GEL as a bribe to the employee of the mentioned agency Giorgi Kakabadze, in return for obtaining Phyto-sanitary certificate. Kakabadze also connected the citizen to head of Batumi field laboratory of the same Ministry Tamaar Tchkuaselil and head of “Furgatori” LTD Irakli Zakaraidze, after which Lia Kikava demanded and received 150 GEL as a bribe from the citizen in exchange for Veterinary certificate for export. Tamar Tchkuaseli also demanded and received 150 GEL from the certain citizen in return for issuing laboratory research results, while Irakli Zakaradze issues fake certificate on fumigation service.
All of the mentioned persons were detained by Anti-corruption Agency as a result of operative-investigative activities.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of issuing fake documents and bribery committed in group, articles 362, I part, 338 II part. The committed crime envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment. Investigation is conducted by Anti-corruption Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
