Mr. Givi Mikanadze, the Rector of the MIA Academy and his accompanying delegation participated in the meeting of the Executive Council of the Association of European Police Colleges in Larnaca, the Republic of Cyprus.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Austria, Germany, Norway, Cyprus, Romania, Netherlands, Poland and Hungary. The MIA Academy of Georgia participated in this meeting for the first time after being elected as a permanent member of the Executive Council of the Association of European Police Colleges.
Mr. Givi Mikanadze familiarized participants of the meeting with implemented, ongoing and planned projects of the MIA Academy of Georgia. The audience got particularly interested in the project on the regional training center, which was created on the initiative of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
The parties agreed that, within the framework of the project, and in cooperation with the MIA Academy of Georgia, the AEPC instructors will conduct trainings for both the instructors of the Georgian and Eastern Partnership Regional Police Academies, and serving employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in May and September 2018.
At the meeting, the 2018 Action Plan for Cooperation between the Association member institutions was also drawn up. According to the Plan, representatives of the MIA Academy, as well as various units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia are to participate in international meetings and exchange programs for raising qualification, and sharing experience.
Within the framework of the visit, Mr. Givi Mikanadze held bilateral meetings with Romanian, Polish and Hungarian colleagues. The parties discussed both the prospects for strengthening relations, and action plans for future cooperation between their countries.
The MIA Academy of Georgia is a member of the Association of European Police Colleges. In May 2017, the Academy was elected as a permanent member of the Executive Council of the Association through secret ballots. The MIA Academy is the only institution of the Eastern Partnership Police Academies, which is a member of the Executive Council of the Association of European Police Colleges.
