Five-day seminar for various media representatives began in the MIA Academy.
The seminar was opened by rector of the MIA Academy, Givi Mikanadze, and head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tea Pertaia. Givi Mikanadze introduced future plans of the MIA Academy, as well as distance learning methodology and principles to the members of the training. The rector noted that the development of international training programs is among the priorities of the Academy. It will allow the representatives of partner countries to undergo training courses in Georgia. Tea Pertaia stressed the standards of the cooperation between the police and the media.
She also reviewed basic aspects of training courses. Trainings for media representatives are comprised of theoretical and practical parts. The process will be conducted by professors and instructors of the MIA Academy, as well as invited lectures. The main topics of the seminar are: human rights; code of police ethics; personal data as an important component of right to a private life; ID and travel document control – the first inspection; cybercrime; family violence; gender equality; inadmissibility of discrimination; forensics and public relations standards. Within the framework of the training, the journalists will have a tour around the infrastructure of the Academy. Besides, they will be involved in various mock and tactical activities. Training course aims to raise awareness of the journalists in police education, as well as provide them with the information on the activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
