The officers of Akhmeta police division of Kakheti Regional Main Division and Kvemo Kartli Regional Main Division as a result of jointly held operative-investigative activities detained Giorgi A. (DoB 1983), Giorgi T. (DoB 1960) and previously convicted Elene I. (DoB 1978) for swindling.
Investigation established that detainees acted according to previously elaborated action plan and met elderly people, introduced themselves as representatives of UN and proposed to take loan and in return offered their help in receiving financial assistance and assured that they would supply elderly people with food products. Members of the criminal group took pensioners to Liberty Bank nd made them sign some documentation. Sums which were given to pensioners were illegally appropriated by members of the criminal group. Investigation also established that in November of the past year detainees illegally appropriated 1575 GEL from the pensioners residing in Khodasheni village, 1500 GEL from the pensioners living in Kondoli village and 3000 GEL from the residents of gardabani.
As a result of operative-investigative activities Giorgi A. and Elene I. were detained in Rustavi while Giorgi T. was taken under arrest in Tbilisi. Detainees have already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of swindling committed in group, article 180, II part, sub-paragraph A and B of the Criminal Code.
