The Division of Especially Important Cases of the Main Division Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the MIA in cooperation with the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia revealed criminal group.
As a result of operative-investigative activities the law enforcers detained in Tbilisi Bondo O. (DoB: 1949), previously convicted Vera A. (DoB: 1956) and previously convicted Tamaz G. (DoB: 1951) for fraud committed in large quantities with a prior agreement.
The investigation established that the detainees with a prior agreement, deceived a woman IDP from Abkhazia as if they had influential acquaintances in the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia and Tbilisi City Hall who could give her necessary points and assist in receiving a flat in “Olympic city” located in Tbilisi sea territory. Instead, the detainees` requested 15 000 US dollars from the IDP. As an advance payment they received 7 000 US dollars, the rest 8 000 US dollars they intended to take later.
The law enforcers during the search of a vehicle belonging to Bondo O. seized 7 000 US dollars as material evidence.
The investigation is in progress on the fact of fraud committed in large quantities with a prior agreement by a group (sub-clause “a” of the part II and sub-clause “b” of the part III of the Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
