The officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained Murad S. (DoB 1959) and Vasil Ch. (DoB 1961) for membership of the “thieves’ world” and extortion with the purpose of obtaining large amount of property. Investigation established that detainees admitted the existence of the thieves’ world and were actively involved in illegal activities. In particular, detainees extorted 10 000 GEL from the entrepreneurs through the threats and intimidation: Ucha Ch. Gia D. and Teimuraz G.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of membership of the “thieves’ world” and extortion in group with the purpose of obtaining large amount of property, article 223, I part and article 181 II part, sub-paragraph C of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
