Ministry of Internal Affairs marked Policeman’s Day. The festive event was held in front of the administrative building of the Ministry.
The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili, members of the Georgian Parliament and government, Ministers of Interior of Latvia and Lithuania, officials of the various foreign law enforcement agencies and delegations as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia.
Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili opened the event with a welcome speech, thanked policemen for the service and wished them success:
“On April, 2017 we concluded historic agreement on operative and strategic cooperation with EUROPOL. This means that Georgian police took the deserved place in big family of the European police.
My dear policemen, our achievements are the result of you restless labor, enthusiasm and faith, when despite numerous daily challenges, you still have faith that you are doing the right thing and thus contribute to the fight for justice and truthfulness, for the sake of the better future of our families, children and our citizens. I want to thank you for these efforts!
We, the policemen, are the servants of our country and we must always remember this!
Police in the whole world and civil society should jointly fight to make our world safer and better!
Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and General Director of Europol- Rob Wainwright congratulated the country with Policeman’s professional day.
Jon Stainbeck wrote about you: “Nothing can break their individuality and spirit”. I think that this spirit can be seen in everyday activities you and your colleagues are doing in the fight against crime and terrorism. I believe this activity will be further enhanced within the frames of the Agreement on Cooperation agreement with Europol. We look forward to the full integration of Georgia into the European law enforcement community. We need your help to make Europe and Georgia even more secure”- noted General Director of Europol in the special video.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Mgebrishvili awarded the distinguished employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs personally for excellently performing their duties and achieved success. Minister prematurely awarded policemen ranks, gave out badges and certificates of appreciation.
Participants of the event paid tribute to the memory of policemen killed during the official duties.
During the festive activities various MIA units displayed their technic and equipment as well as personnel.
Today, during the event conscripts put on the military oath for the first time.
At the end of the official part of the event public was able to enjoy ensembles –“Mdzlevari” “Irao” and Georgian national ballet- “Sukhishvilebi”.
