International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has held regional thematic meeting at Kutaisi Civic Engagement Center for drafting of the joint policy on prevention of the domestic violence in Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions. The meeting was held within the frames of EU-funded project- “MIA’s Support in Fight against Domestic Violence” involving Police, Prosecutor’s Office, Social Service Agency and local municipality representatives.
The event was aimed to create joint network for the fight against domestic violence and to improve coordination between the parties involved.
After the meeting the training on the topic of domestic violence was held for the local law enforcers.
Similar trainings and meetings will promote creation of the flexible system for the fight against domestic violence, awareness rising of people and law enforcers on the legal mechanisms existing in the country, to define efficient approach to the mentioned crime to ensure reduction and prevention of the crime.
