Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Davit Vardiashvili and director general of the “Blood Bank” -Davit Loliashvili have signed memorandum of understanding in connection with the blood donors international day.
Memorandum envisages providing children suffering from leukemia and other serious pathologies with blood, donated by the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In case of necessity blood and blood components will be given free of charge for babies, infants and patients suffering from emergency situations.
The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been donating blood for the children suffering from Leukemia already for 5 years. Within the scope of the campaign, hundreds of police officers of Tbilisi, as well as subdivisions of all regions of Georgia donated blood. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will continue to participate in the blood donation campaign.
On June 14th, blood donors international day is marked annually in different parts of the world, aiming to raise public awareness on the importance of the blood donation. Also, on this day, citizens express gratitude to all the blood donors who voluntarily and unselfishly donate blood to save children’s lives.
