Under the initiative of the Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili, the agency has launched new project-“Safe City, Safe Region, Safe Country” for crime prevention, operative response on cases, detection and elimination of administrative violations as well as for gathering incontrovertible evidences.
The project aims to increase high technology role in police activities and improve crime prevention. The project is being implemented by Joint Operations Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was opened on October 4, 2016 and represents as a centralized technology hub of the agency.
The project envisages installation of the so called smart cameras with video analytical programs in prior defined places of the country. Cameras will be connected to the joint network, monitoring of which will be implemented by video-analytical programs of the Joint Operations Center.
In the mentioned project, the Ministry of Internal Affairs attaches great importance to the involvement of local self-governing agencies. With this aim employees of Joint Operations Center have held consultations with heads of municipalities. At the meeting sides discussed their capacities in the process of the project implementation and agreed on joint activities.
By means of the mentioned project, response on crimes, crime prevention and violations will be made in real-time regime. Safety and protection quality will be increased among people, the index of car accidents will be drastically low as well as the number of injuries and deaths; efficiency of the police activities and quality of investigation will also be increased.
