Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili along with the Minister of Defense Tinatin Khidasheli, US Ambassador Ian Kelly and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and head of the Border Police Zurab Gamezardashvili have attended the reception on the US Navy ship “PORTER” which made a port call in Batumi.
US Navy ship has made a call in the territorial waters of Georgia within the frames of the tree-day official visit. At the official reception captain showed guests around the ship, familiarized them with the technical characteristics and spoke about the importance of cooperation between the two countries in terms of security. Representatives of Georgian and US maritime forces, within the frames of the bilateral cooperation will conduct combined training exercises in first aid and search and rescue operations. By the end of the visit the sides will hold joint sea maneuvers and maritime operations aiming at enhance the maritime security in the region.
At the end of the meeting captain of the US ship handed over a symbolic gift –compass to the Minister of Internal Affairs.
