In connection with 27 September, day of fall of Sukhumi, Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze, commemorated students of MIA Academy fallen during the Afkhazian War, 1992 and laid a wreath on their memorial. Deputy Minister Levan Izoria, Head of Border Police Zurab Gamezardashvili, Head of Academy of MIA Nukri Gelashvili and other representatives of the Ministry commemorated fallen students along with the Minister.
During the Afkhazian war, 1992 14 students of MIA Academy were killed in the vicinities of Gagra, near the Kolkhida village .
Ministry invited family members of deceased heroes to participate in the ceremony of the commemoration. Aleksandre Tchikaidze met them personally and handed symbolic gifts.
To commemorated memory of students who fell in the Afkhazian War, Samachablo and Tbilisi Civil War during the 1991-1992 years the memorial was opened in the yard of the Academy.
