At 9:30 am at the Tbilisi Marriott on June 8, the U.S. Embassy's Office for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs launched its first ever series of Women Leadership Development courses.
Sponsored by the US Department of State, these courses are designed to help Georgian women police officers develop leadership and management skills essential to advancing in their careers and maximizing their contributions to their profession. The classes recognize the increasing importance and benefit of including women in conflict mitigation efforts and security issues; such classes also promote greater gender equality.
This is the latest initiative by the U.S. Embassy's Office for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs to promote women's inclusion and advancement in Georgia's and regional law enforcement structures. In March, 2015 the US Embassy sponsored the fourth annual Women in Policing Conference in Tbilisi that brought together 150 women police professionals from 9 different countries.
