Merab Malania, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, held a working meeting in Anaklia on the security issues before the start of the international music festival "GEM Fest-2017".
The meeting was attended by the representative Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Mike Turner, festival planning and coordination expert Patrick Smith, employees of various units of the MIA, representatives of the administration of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Governor and GEM Fest-2017 Organizers.
Merab Malania introduced the Festival's security plan to the American experts, the distribution of the police forces, the coordination scheme between the structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and viewed the territory defined for the festival.
Structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are actively involved in "GEM Fest-2017" security issues and intensively cooperate with the organizers of the festival. The Department of Special Tasks of the MIA is the main structural unit responsible for planning the security of the International Festival of Electronic Music and providing coordinated action between the structural units of the MIA during the event.
The division of Planning and Coordination under the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared a special security plan regarding security issues of GEM Fest-2017, involving the MIA Emergency Management Agency, Patrol Police, Criminal Police and Security Police Departments.
The Department of Special Tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been conducting security measures for the International Music Festival for the second year already.
