Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs attended international forum- “Nuclear and Radioactive Challenges in Black Sea Region: Reasons, Results and Response Measures” and delivered speech.
Shalva Khutsishvili discussed importance of the forum and expressed hope that forum would be held annually.
Participants of the forum discussed threats coming from territories left unattended by the central governments in the region and their negative impact on international nuclear security. The aim of the event was to define potential international, regional and national mechanisms through which it will be possible to reduce nuclear and radioactive threats.
Forum was also attended by diplomatic corps, representatives from international and non-governmental organizations and officials from various government agencies.
Event was organized by Swedish Radiation Protection Authority, US State Department, United Kingdom’s Department of Energy and Climate Change, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia as well as by Radiation and Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency.
