The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia was visited by Susan Lee, the US Magistrate. The Magistrate had a meeting with Mr. Archil Talakvadze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
The meeting concerned the issues of implementation of pretrial probation service in Georgia. The mentioned service is the part of the US criminal justice system, which provides courts with the impartial information about the personality of an accused person and the risks associated with his/her possible remaining at a pre-trial stage. This service also carries out the supervision of enforcement of non-custodial measures in the USA.
The parties talked about the ongoing reform in criminal justice system; the focus was made on the projects implemented in the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the support of the US Government as well as the future plans.
