Members of Interagency Commission for Reforming MIA today held meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations and introduced project of the new concept. At the meeting with non-governmental organizations’ representatives, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Levan Izoria discussed the issue regarding the division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs into two agencies.
At the meeteing Levan Izoria noted that fulfillment of pre-election promises has started, which is connected to division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs into two agencies: “In parallel with our Ministry, State Security Service will be formed. In the last months we’ve been working intensively, got familiarized with international practice, closely cooperated with experts and envisaged standards and approaches approbated in the developed countries.
We are talking about high standard of accountability, transparency and respectively we’ve already prepared draft-law package, which will be presented to non-governmental organization representatives for taking into account their notes and proposals in the future. Draft-law will be sent to the government in order to start discussions at the parliament in the nearest future”-stated Deputy Minister Levan Izoria at the meeting.
