With the support of Council of Europe, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office and Judiciary successfully completed the HELP on combating hate crimes.
Closing event of distance learning course was attended by Alexander Darakhvelidze - the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Natia Merabashvili – Deputy Prosecutor General, Ivane Bolkvadze – the Deputy Director of the High School of Justice and Vahagn Muradyan – the Deputy head of office of Council of Europe in Georgia. Parties discussed topical issues on the fight against hate crime and awarded participants with certificates.
The training course for investigators, prosecutors and judges was held for the first time in Georgia in 2019-2020.
The aim of the distance learning course was to improve the hate crime investigation, prosecution and court decision making skills. The training course consisted of three stages: investigation of hate crime; criminal prosecution and court decision-making. Accordingly, it was attended by investigators as well as prosecutors and judges.
HELP Distance Learning Course for fight against hate crime: “Skills of effective investigation of hate-motivated crimes, prosecution, and decision making” has been implemented in the framework of Council of Europe project “Fight Against Discrimination, Hate Crimes and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project has been carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other partner agencies and supported by the Council of Europe.
