Within the frames of the official visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to Slovak Republic Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Mghebrishvili held meeting with his Slovak colleague, Robert Kalinak. At the meeting with Robert Kalinak who is the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic at the same time, sides have signed the Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Slovak Republic on Cooperation in the Fight against Crime. The Agreement creates legal basis for cooperation in fighting against crime.
Parties have also signed the Implementing Protocol between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Slovak Republic on the implementation of the Agreement between Georgia and the European Union on the readmission of persons residing without authorization. Pursuant to the Article 19 of the Agreement between Georgia and the European Union on the Readmission of Persons Residing without Authorization, upon the request of EU member state or Georgia, the parties to the Agreement conclude bilateral implementing protocols, which define the provisions for the implementation of the Agreement.
Ministers discussed bilateral cooperation and the reforms accomplished and still ongoing at the Ministry of Internal Affairs towards European integration. The parties emphasized the importance of mutual efforts to successfully tackle organized crime and expressed mutual willingness to enhance cooperation in the field of combatting transnational organized crime though establishing working groups, sharing best practices and capacity building. The parties expressed their hope that cooperation in law enforcement will further develop in the future.
