The opening ceremony of the new EU-funded project "Training and Operational Partnership against Organized Crime (TOPCOP)" was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The high level representatives of the International Relations, Central Criminal Police, the Information-Analytical Departments of the MIA, together with the representatives of the MIA Academy, Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, the EU Delegation, the European Law Enforcement Agency (CEPOL) and the European Police Office (EUROPOL) attended the meeting.
The participants of the online meeting discussed the priority directions in the fight against organized crime and identified the future activities of the project.
The project has been implemented in close cooperation with the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 2020 and will continue until 2024. The project aims to strengthen strategic and operational partnership among law enforcement agencies, Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine), EU Member States and relevant EU agencies, as well as to enhance the capacity of relevant law enforcement agencies and strengthen regional network to fight international organized crime.
