With the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkmenistan Office, the delegation of Turkmenistan paid an official working visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The delegation was composed of high officials of the Public Defender’s Office, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Mejlis (Parliament) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The high official representatives of the Temporary Detention Department, Migration Department and International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs hosted the delegation.
The aim of the visit was to get acquainted with the cooperation of the relevant structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the National Preventive Mechanism (Department) at the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia.
The delegation of Turkmenistan was also informed regarding the existing regulations for detainees, services provided to them, legal status of detainees, etc.
The parties also expressed their willingness to continue cooperation on best practice and experience sharing.
