In cooperation with the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the CEC Training Center, an online training on "Elections and Security" topic was held for the mid-level managers of the structural units under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in connection with the 2021 local self-government elections.
The online course of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be conducted for two days and is aimed for 879 employees of the Ministry.
The training, which focused on increasing the knowledge and awareness of law enforcement officers on election issues, was led by representatives of the LEPL Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training Center.
The participants were introduced to the legislation on risk identification, preventive measures and response mechanisms for ensuring the security of the election process during the pre-election period and on Election Day.
The police officers participating in the training also got familiarized with the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs and the instructions attached to the mentioned order, according to which groups responsible for prevention and responding to violations will be established in the areas of police departments across the country. In addition, the obligation of the police to strictly adhere to the principle of political neutrality is also defined by the order.
